Phoenix has done each week
The Phoenix Marching Firebird Program has been in existence since circa 1965. Under the direction of Mr. Ronald Smith, students began the foundation to which a great Marching Program has evolved. Mr. Smith led the Marching Firebirds until his resignation in 1979. His replacement was Mr. Richard Stocker from 1979 - 1980. The Phoenix Central Schools then welcomed Mr. Gregory E. Woodruff. Mr. Woodruff successfully led the Marching Firebird Program through the economical restraints of the 1980's and into the lively 1990's. Under his direction the program rose to several great achievements. Mr. Larry Schmidt led the program from the years of 1994 - 1997. The Marching Firebirds have been under the direction of Mr. Christopher D. Centner since 1998 winning the New York State Field Band Conference - Small School II (SSII) Championships in 1998, 1999 and 2004.
Along with competing in the field band conference, the program has participated in numerous festivals up and down the eastern seaboard including stops in Winchester and Virginia Beach, Virginia, New Jersey, Ocean City, Maryland, Hershey Park, Bush Gardens, Orlando, Florida and the Outback Bowl - Tampa Florida in 2005.
